Samui ATV tours compared: X-Quad, Lexi, Trail Blazers, Jungle Quad and Samui X-Treme. Prices from 1,500 THB, licence rules, insurance and who suits whom.
Samui ATV tours cost from about 1,500 THB (~43 USD) for 1 hour to about 4,500 THB (~129 USD) for 3-4 hours, as of October 2026. Most operators sit in Maenam on the north coast (X-Quad Samui, Lexi Adventures, Trail Blazers), with Jungle Quad on the Nathon mountains and Samui X-Treme near Lamai. All run guided routes on private jungle and plantation trails, usually ending at a viewpoint or a waterfall, so no driving licence is needed for a standard quad.
Key takeaways
- X-Quad Samui (Maenam Soi 4) publishes its price list: 2 hours from 2,800 THB (~80 USD) for a single quad, 4 hours from 4,500 THB (~129 USD).
- Lexi Adventures (Maenam) lists 1, 2 and 3-hour tours at 1,800, 2,800 and 4,500 THB; Trail Blazers (Maenam) lists 1,600, 2,600 and 3,800 THB.
- Jungle Quad (Nathon) lists 2, 3 and 4-hour tours without prices on its site and sets a minimum driver age of 16.
- Samui X-Treme (Lamai) is the one south-east option, from around 1,500 THB for a short ride.
- Operator “insurance” covers the tour itself. It does not replace travel insurance, and many policies exclude off-road motorised activities.
X-Quad Samui is the listing for this page and the best documented; the other operators follow in their own sections.

X-Quad’s own site lists no office hours, so treat 08:00-21:00 as approximate and confirm by WhatsApp before you turn up outside a booked slot. Its site describes fully automatic Japanese and American vehicles from 350cc to 1000cc and says no prior riding experience is needed.
Prices are each operator’s published starting rate per rider or vehicle, checked October 2026 on their own sites; confirm before you go. Four further names (Samui Quad Motor, Orange Wave and Wild Action in Maenam; Green Mountain in Nathon) appear on a third-party comparison site, which counts eight parks in all; we have not verified those against their own sites.

How to choose: pick the nearest base to your hotel (transfer time counts), the duration you want, and whether you need a double quad for a child passenger. Maenam has the most choice. The west (Nathon) suits a longer mountain day with a temple and waterfall. Lamai has one operator.
X-Quad Samui runs two standard tours from its Mae Nam base, priced per vehicle rather than per rider, per its own price list as of September 2026.
| Tour | Duration | Single ATV | Double ATV (400cc) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beginner Waterfall | 2 hrs | 2,800 THB (~80 USD) | 3,800 THB (~109 USD) |
| Mountain Tour | 4 hrs | 4,500 THB (~129 USD) | 6,800 THB (~194 USD) |
A 520cc double ATV costs 4,300 THB (~123 USD) on the 2-hour route and 7,300 THB (~209 USD) on the 4-hour route. The 2-seat buggy runs 8,200-9,200 THB (~234-263 USD) on the 4-hour route, and a 4-seat 950cc buggy 12,200 THB (~349 USD). A private-tour add-on costs 4,500 THB (~129 USD) more regardless of vehicle.
Children aged 11-12 can drive a single ATV themselves; under-10s ride only as passengers, for an extra 200 THB (~5.50 USD) on the 2-hour route or 300 THB (~8.50 USD) on the 4-hour route. The 4-hour Mountain Tour includes hotel transfer, a multilingual guide, helmet and raincoat, lunch or drinks and the operator’s stated insurance; the 2-hour route includes soft drinks and insurance but not lunch.
Lexi Adventures (Maenam) lists a 1-hour Taster (1,800 THB), a 2-hour Jungle Tour (2,800 THB, its most popular) and a 3-hour Explorer (4,500 THB). Free hotel pickup, a practice area, accident insurance and soft drinks on the longer tours are listed, with children from 3 as passengers (under-12s free) and no licence needed. Routes include mud, river crossings, a waterfall and a cafe viewpoint, and groups are split by skill. Its own site claims a 5.0 rating across 900+ Google reviews, an operator claim we have not checked.
Trail Blazers (Maenam) lists 1-hour (1,600 THB), 2-hour (2,600 THB) and 3-hour (3,800 THB) jungle tours with hotel pickup from Lamai, Chaweng Noi, Chaweng, Choeng Mon and Bo Phut. Children can join as passengers with advance notice.
Jungle Quad (Nathon) runs from the mountains above Nathon on the west side, with 2, 3 and 4-hour tours (the 3-hour includes a waterfall swim, the 4-hour adds a temple, Magic Buddha Garden and a Thai lunch). Its ATVs are automatic, with a combined weight limit of 140 kg per ATV; drivers must be 16+ and passengers 4+. Hotel transfers cover the whole island, and no licence is needed. A third-party comparison site lists its 4-hour tour from about 2,800 THB and notes a 5% card fee.
Samui X-Treme ATV Adventure, near Lamai and Maret on the south-east coast, is the one operator convenient for that side of the island. Its TripAdvisor listing was still being updated as of January 2026, with recent reviews describing hotel pickup, protective gear and a jungle-and-viewpoint route ending near a waterfall and hilltop Buddha. A third-party comparison site (atvkohsamui.tours, checked 2026) lists its cheapest ride from around 1,500 THB (~43 USD) for 1 hour.
It maintains an official Facebook page (facebook.com/samuiextream1) and a TripAdvisor listing but no independent website with its own pricing or hours. Confirm route length, price and pickup times directly.
Not for public roads, as far as we found: every operator above sells guided rides on private trails, and none advertises quads for self-drive hire on the road. If you want to ride yourself, a scooter is the usual choice: see Koh Samui scooter rental for licence and insurance rules, which are stricter. Searches for quad bike rental or hire on Samui mostly lead to these guided tours.
Standard quad tours need no driving licence, because routes run on private plantation and jungle trails, not public roads: riders are cleared after an on-site ability test (kohtour.com, ATV tours Koh Samui page). Operators confirm it themselves (Lexi and Jungle Quad both state no licence is required). X-Quad’s own FAQ is the exception: its buggy (UTV) option requires a valid driver’s licence even though its standard ATVs do not.
That changes on public roads. Thai law requires a valid home-country motorcycle licence plus an International Driving Permit endorsed for motorcycles, obtained before arriving, since Thailand does not issue IDPs to visitors (nomedic.co, Thailand Scooter Insurance guide). Riding without one risks a 500-1,000 THB (~14-29 USD) fine and can void a travel-insurance claim.
Operator-provided “insurance” covers accidents during the guided tour. It is not a replacement for personal travel insurance. Standard policies frequently exclude off-road motorised activities; nomedic.co puts the exclusion rate for motorbike and scooter claims at around 90%. Check with your own insurer, in writing, before riding.
One comparison site calls January to April the driest and easiest window, with muddy, slippery trails in the wet season, and notes that waterfall stops can be a trickle in the dry months. Light rain rarely cancels tours but heavy rain may change routes.
X-Quad Samui’s Mae Nam base is about 12 km (15 minutes by car) from Samui Airport and about 20 minutes by taxi from Chaweng. Most operators include hotel transfer, so check what your price covers before you book a taxi.
Samui X-Treme’s Lamai-area base is about 25 minutes from the airport and 10-15 minutes from Chaweng, more convenient for stays on the south-east coast. Jungle Quad covers the whole island with hotel transfers, but the ride up to Nathon is the longest from Chaweng or Lamai.
Both X-Quad’s 4-hour Mountain Tour and Samui X-Treme’s longer routes head toward Wat Phra Yai, the Big Buddha temple on the north-east coast. X-Quad’s Mae Nam base sits close to Maenam Beach, and Samui X-Treme’s Lamai base is a short ride from Lamai Beach. For a different waterfall stop, see Na Muang Waterfalls. To compare ATVs with ziplines and go-karting, read Ziplines, ATV & Adventure Parks in Koh Samui.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| No licence needed for standard quads | Operator insurance is not independently audited |
| Several Maenam operators, with hotel transfer included on most | Jungle Quad and Samui X-Treme publish no prices on their own sites |
| 1-hour options from about 1,500-1,800 THB | Dry-season waterfall stops can be a trickle |
| Children can ride as passengers on double quads | Many travel policies exclude off-road motorised activities |
X-Quad’s biggest strength is a published price list, FAQ and per-tour inclusions (helmet, insurance, transfer). Its downside: “insurance included” is the operator’s own wording, not a named policy or insurer. Neither it nor the other operators publish third-party safety certification, so treat the safety claims here as operator-stated.
Samui ATV tours start at about 1,500-1,800 THB (~43-52 USD) for 1 hour and 2,600-2,800 THB (~75-80 USD) for 2 hours, rising to about 3,800-4,500 THB (~109-129 USD) for 3-4 hours, as of October 2026. X-Quad Samui prices per vehicle, so a double quad costs more than a single.
No, not for a standard quad. Operators run on private trails and clear riders after an on-site ability test rather than a licence check. X-Quad’s buggy (UTV) option is the exception and does require a valid driver’s licence.
It depends on location and duration. X-Quad Samui publishes the clearest price list (comparison sites report a 4.9 Google rating); Lexi Adventures and Trail Blazers offer 1-hour options in Maenam; Jungle Quad covers the Nathon mountains; Samui X-Treme is the south-east option. Check recent reviews and what the price includes.
Not automatically. Operator insurance covers the tour itself, but many travel policies exclude off-road motorised activities (nomedic.co estimates a ~90% exclusion rate for motorbike and scooter claims). Confirm with your insurer, in writing, before riding.
Usually as passengers on a double quad. At X-Quad Samui, children aged 11-12 can drive a single ATV; under-10s ride as passengers for an extra 200-300 THB. Lexi lists children from 3 as passengers, and Jungle Quad sets 16 for drivers and 4 for passengers. Confirm with the operator.
