The 7th TAT Samui Open Beach Volleyball Tournament in March 2025 drew 88 teams from 25 countries to Chaweng Beach.
The 2025 tournament was the 7th Samui Open Beach Volleyball Tournament. Biggs Island Productions originated the event, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand supports it under its Amazing Thailand campaign. The first tournament in 2017 featured 22 amateur and professional players from 10 countries, so the 2025 field was several times larger.
Venues have changed along the way. The 2023 edition was at Choeng Mon, and in 2025 the tournament moved to Samui Resotel Beach Resort on Chaweng Beach, and then to Central Festival Samui in 2026. Each year's announcement comes from the organisers and the press a few weeks before the dates. Eglobal Travel Media published the 2025 preview under the headline 'set to thrill'. Check the organiser's registration notices if you want to enter as a player.
By its seventh year the open had TAT backing and an international field.

Read moreSport on Samui means three things. Muay Thai fights run most nights in Chaweng: Samui International Stadium on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, Phetchbuncha on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with six bouts from about 21:00. The Samui Regatta, the island's longest-running sporting event, brings sailing fleets to Chaweng in late May. Running events add a half marathon starting in Chaweng, which has been held in June, and the Samui Trail in November, with distances from 7 to 55 km starting in Na Mueang. Start times are early, to beat the heat.
Chaweng is the main resort town on Samui's east coast, with the longest beach on the island, roughly 7 km of sand. Soi Green Mango, just back from the beach, is the nightlife alley, and Central Festival Samui sits between the beach road and Chaweng Lake. Chaweng Beach Road is one-way northbound and slows to a crawl between 17:00 and 20:00 with taxis, scooters and pedestrians. Most club nights, pool parties and Muay Thai bouts are here, and Pru Chaweng Park hosts public festivals and races.
