The night
Sunset to sunrise, hour by hour
Tap through the night and watch the sky over Haad Rin Nok change with it: when to paint up, when the fire starts, when the boats run.

Last boats over
Day ferries stop around 17:00. The Haad Rin Queen's last sailing from Bang Rak lands right in Haad Rin at about 17:50, and the party speedboats start their hotel pickups on Samui.
Pro move: Missed it? It's the speedboat or a bed on Phangan: nothing scheduled sails overnight.
18:00
Paint up
The beach starts filling. Bucket stalls open, the UV paint stalls set up along the sand and the first fire shows start.
Pro move: Get painted while you can still see the painter: 50 to 200 THB.
20:00
Gate time
Collectors take the 200 THB at the entrances from about 20:00. Cash only, the wristband is your receipt, and there is no online ticket.
Pro move: Small notes in a pocket that zips. There are no card machines on the sand.
21:00
Fire time
The music gets louder, the bars fill up, and the fire limbo and the flaming skipping rope start on the sand.
Pro move: Watch a few rounds before you jump, and never jump drunk. Burns are the classic morning-after souvenir.

Peak time
Midnight to 03:00: every sound system running at once, 10,000 to 30,000 people on 700 metres of sand, the moon high over the water.
Pro move: Agree a meeting landmark now. Phones die and the signal drops in the crowd.

Second wind
The crowd starts to thin. Party speedboats back to Samui leave Haad Rin pier on a rolling basis between about 01:00 and 06:00, when they fill up.
Pro move: Refuse an overloaded boat. There'll be another one.

Sunrise
Haad Rin Nok faces east, so the sun comes up out of the sea right in front of the party, about 06:18 after the next one. Officially the party runs until sunrise.
Pro move: Free guarded sleep areas have popped up on the sand before. Don't count on one.

Boat home
The first Haad Rin Queen back to Samui leaves at 09:30. By afternoon the beach is swept clean, and the day after is the busiest day for boats.

Is the party always on the night of the full moon?
Mostly. When the full moon lands on a major Buddhist holy day the party moves to the next night, and twice in 2027 the official list uses the night before the peak. New Year's Eve gets its own countdown party with no moon at all. Every night is in the picker above.
How much does it cost to get in?
200 THB, cash, paid at the gate. The wristband is your receipt. There are no online or VIP tickets: anyone selling one isn't official.
What time does it start and finish?
The beach fills from about 18:00, the gate collectors start around 20:00, the peak runs from midnight to 03:00 and the party is officially allowed to run until sunrise, about 06:00.
How do I get back to Samui after the party?
On a party speedboat. They leave Haad Rin pier on a rolling basis between about 01:00 and 06:00, and most packages include hotel pickup on Samui (around 1,000 THB return, 1,400 VIP, not confirmed by the operators). The first scheduled boat back leaves at 09:30.
How old do I need to be?
The legal drinking age in Thailand is 20. Half Moon and Jungle Experience check for 20+ with ID; we found no source on ID checks at the Haad Rin gate. Carry a photo of your passport and leave the real one in the safe.
Is weed legal at the party?
No. Since June 2025 cannabis needs a Thai prescription and it's not for public use. Plain-clothes police work the party and can order a drug test on the spot.
